Wand Toy

Supplies:
- Dowel
- String or twine
- Ribbon/Rick Rack
- Tacky Glue
- Optional: Feathers, Fabric, Bells, and Pom Poms
How to Make:
- Cut approximately 3 feet of twine
- Coat tacky glue on the top inch of the dowel
- Leave a tail of 8 inches of twine down the dowel and stick it parallel with the dowel on the glue
- Wrap the long end of the twine around the dowel and over the tail several times until the end of the glue or you’ve done 1 inch.
- Then pull the tail end of the twine up
- Add another half inch of glue and continue wrapping around just the dowel until it reaches the end of the glue
- Add extra glue and wrap until you’ve tacked down the end of the twine
- Gather your ribbon and optional items to make whatever dangly toys your cat would like best (see below for ideas)
- Cut lengths of ribbon or rick-rack approximately 3 feet long. Each ribbon will give 2 ends for your cat to bat at
- Tie the middle of these to the string adding a drop of glue inside the knot to make it more secure.
- Let dry before playtime and remember to always supervise your cat with string based toys.
Dangle Ideas:
- Tie feathers to the ribbon end(s) with a drop of glue in the knot
- Tie a jingle bell on the ribbon end. Make a fabric pouch around the bell (see triangle template and gluing directions)
- Glue Pom Poms to the end(s)
- Tie a TP tube treat dispenser to the end
Wool Ball Cat Toy
Supplies:
- ¼-½ oz wool
- Hot water
- Soap
- Tulle fabric square
- Bell/wiffle ball type toy for inside
How to Make:
- Fluff up the wool so that the different colors don’t look separated
- Wrap the wool loosely around the bell or ball toy
- Wrap the tulle around wool making a little bundle
- Dip the wool mass into hot water
- Soap your hands an add it to the wool until it is very sudsy
- Very gently agitate the wool package between your hands. Resist the urge to squeeze, and let the fibers compress on their own. Toss it gently between your hands, shifting the ball’s direction to maintain the ball’s spherical shape.
- Occasionally remove and replace the tulle wrap so it bunches up on a different side of the ball.
- Dip in hot water and re-suds as needed. Continue gentle agitation until the ball is desired density and shape.
- Rinse any remaining soap out and dry. The bell will sound muted until the wool has dried.
- Toss down a hallway or across the room for your cat/s to enjoy.
- Wool balls can be washed in warm/hot laundry and dried in the dryer to re-form them if they start to loosen from kitty playtime.
*Hot tip: put the ball in a container with catnip to infuse for a week or two for extra fun.
Cork Cat
Supplies:
- 9 regular corks (including 2 of the same length/size)
- Cork head, ears, nose and cheeks
- ½ of pipe cleaner or length of paper twist (tail)
- Hot glue and glue gun
- Wire and wire cutters
- Tacky Glue
- 2 Googly eyes
- Optional: Paint, ribbon, jewels etc for decorating
How to Make:
- Place the two similar corks upright and hot glue a 3rd cork on their top (a)
- Hot glue a trio of corks together tucking your tail between the back two. If using paper twist as a tail, be sure to open the bottom end and flatten it before gluing in place. (b)
- Hot glue the head shape to another cork, and glue the ears in place.
- Hot glue on two circle cheeks
- Cut 3 lengths of wire wide enough to be both sides of whiskers. Bend two of them slightly to make a V
- Place a pea sized hot glue dot where you want the nose to go. Quickly place each whisker in place (top one like a slight upward V, middle one flat, and bottom one like a slight upside down V). (c)
- Add more hot glue if needed and top with the nose cork (d)
- Connect your three body parts together by making a flat c shape on the back of the cat with two more corks (side view e).
- Use tacky glue to stick on the googly eyes
- Optionally: paint and/or apply a ribbon collar with a jewel for a tag
*If you mess up, let glue set/cool, pull apart, clean off dried glue and try again.

How to:
- Be creative!

- Glue pom-poms randomly on a whole or cut down tube
