Spring into Summer Fundraiser – 2018

May 30, 2018

Hi! You probably don’t know me, but my name is Grayson. I was rescued by volunteers with Cat Rescue & Adoption Network two years ago this month. I would have written sooner but first I had to learn English and then how to type on a computer. I finally got the technology figured out so here I am.

When they found me, I was in big trouble — I had panleukopenia (95% fatal if not vaccinated), a very bad skin infection (my skin was peeling off in sheets and part of my tail was badly damaged), an impacted bowel (resulting in a bloated stomach) and ringworm on top of all that.  Not good.

Most thought I was a goner. I was told later that had anyone else found me they would have put me out of my misery. I was with eight of my fellow abandonees and one of us crossed the Rainbow Bridge early on. (Yes, we know all about the Rainbow Bridge.)  I wanted to live. Even in my misery I looked at the volunteers straight in the eyes and said, “Help me!
They did. Medicines, almost daily subcutaneous fluids, visits to the vet, an operation to remove part of my tail, ringworm treatment . . . and plenty of love. Slowly, over a period of six months, I got better and better. So much better that I was adopted to a special family in December, an early Christmas present. (Yes, we know about Christmas too, and Hanukah and Ramadan and the Easter Bunny.)

I just want to thank you for helping me. I know it took a lot of effort, money and love. To the CRAN community who contributed and volunteers who nursed me back to health, you are my heroes and I owe you my life.  I don’t know how I got into the situation I was in, but I can’t imagine it was my fault.

Thank you all for giving me the chance to live.

With love and gratitude and time for my nap,

Grayson
